BILL BLOG
Monday February 10, 2025
Monday morning arises. It was 73 this past Saturday. But today’s high is just 49 in Nashville.
THE WEEKEND
Mine started writing with Patrick Thomas on Friday for the first time. Patrick is a comedian, does a podcast comedy show, and also does some stand-up comedy from time to time. He produced the nationally syndicated "Big D & Bubba" radio show for 27 years.
Patrick sought me out to help him write a comedy song that he could use when he does stand-up comedy. Part of his act is devoted to talking about how uncomfortable and awkward it can be when you're at the gym in the dressing room naked with everyone else.
And so the song "Naked At The Gym" was born on Friday. Hey, somebody has to do it.
He'll test the song out soon, and then we will find out if his audience thinks the song is funny.
SUPER BOWL SUNDAY THOUGHTS AND NOTES
Unless you’re an Eagles fan, yesterday’s Super Bowl was pretty boring as the game was over early. The final score was 40-22 but it wasn’t that close. Patrick Mahomes spent more time on his back than a yoga class. Hats off to the Eagles turned in a masterful performance.
The half-time show may have been one of the worst ever. Good, maybe for the rap community…but not so much for the larger part of the country. Did anyone understand anything he was rapping?
Did you notice the bling Tom Brady was wearing as he broadcast the game? It only cost $750,000.
I have SO got to get me some “bling”!
President Trump was cheered at the game. Taylor Swift got booed. Then Trump dissed Taylor on his social media for getting booed. Maybe that was one of his campaign promises?
Bill Belichick and his now-24-year-old girlfriend showed up in the Dunkin’ Donut ad with Ben Affleck and others. (So in essence, Belichick was showing off yet another trophy.)
As many as 3 million are calling in sick today after the big game yesterday. Experts say that might cost businesses as much as $3 billion. Yikes.
The AD Meter ranked the Budweiser Clydesdale commercial as #1 favorite this year. I don’t think I’d disagree with that.
And now I’m ready for baseball with opening day just a little more than a month away! Put me in coach!
SONG OF THE DAY
Today it's "Running to the Sun" from Seals & Crofts 2 that I wrote with Brady Seals, who is part of the Seals musical family. Dan Seals, Troy Seals the great songwriter, and Jim Seals of Seals and Crofts.
He teamed with Lua Croft, the daughter of Dash Crofts of the famous musical duo, and released this as their first official single a few months ago. Listen to this song, you can almost see them running down the open road in California.
HEALTH NOTES
Some health experts say wiggling your toes is good for your heart. It creates blood flow and better circulation. They suggest you do it for 30 seconds every hour.
A 66-year-old man became the second recipient of a pig kidney. The procedure went well. It's starting to realize that 90,000 people are waiting for a kidney.
The FDA recalled over 2 million donut products over a listeria risk.
HERE'S YOUR SIGN
I'M FOR THIS
AT&T will soon be able to show wireless customers why a business is trying to call you. That will be a big help to help one decide whether the call is spam or someone legit. Gimme that!
HAD TO HAPPEN
More and more folks are now buying chickens and chicken coops to try and save money on eggs which have become way expensive. Someone posted a great question over the weekend about eggs and chickens.
"Why are egg prices surging but not chicken wings?"
TOUCHING
Dick Vitale returned to announcing college basketball games over the weekend after a long 2-year battle with cancer. He broadcast the Clemson upset over Duke on Saturday. And the Clemson crowd gave him a HUGE ovation which was indeed very touching. Good for him…and good for college basketball fans. And good for anyone who kicks cancers butt.
Same for Randy Moss who returned to ESPN this weekend while battling cancer himself. He brokedown into tears after his broadcast partners welcomed him back with a touching video featuring some well known well wishers.
HE SAID IT
Bill Gates says that with AI humans will not be needed for most jobs in the future. Think about that. I have a new laptop I’m blogging on this morning. I downloaded the free Grammarly program that has an AI feature that is constantly spell-checking and trying to give me ideas on how to better write some lines that I’m blogging. So in the future I might not need to touch the keyboard. I can just tell it to write the Blog itself.
ONE CENT
I doubt Bill Gates objects to Trump telling the Treasury to stop making pennies as it’s a waste of money. I somehow don’t see Bill Gates ever pulling a penny out of his pocket to pay for something. And the truth is, I can’t remember the last time I used a penny for anything either. Would anyone miss pennies? Maybe they can start making “nickel loafers” now.
STUDY SAYS
That EV’s now rival gas vehicles for reliability and longevity. Will that increase sales for EV’s? Maybe. Just don’t expect to pay for one with pennies.
GOOD ADVICE
There’s a couple in England who have been married to each other for 75 years now. The two of them say the key to their long marriage is “knowing when to shut up.”
HEADLINE OF THE DAY
Woman Missing Since She Got Lost. (ya think?)
TODAY
I had a songwriter cancellation this morning so that will give me some time to address some things that need addressing.
Have a great Monday!
