Thursday morning is rolling in with warm temperatures again. Sunny and a hot 93 on tap in Nashville today.
YESTERDAY
My writing appointment did not happen yesterday because I had the date wrong on my calendar. So that opened my day up and I spent it pitching some songs to a bluegrass artist who’s looking to record a new album and booking a couple of new shows. So it was time well spent.
BEACH GIGS
This time of year I start looking forward to traveling back to the beach for shows. So I thought I’d list the dates I’ll be on a beach playing this year.
October 2 & 3 in Orange Beach, Alabama with Freedom Sings USA writing songs with veterans.
October 4-6 at the Pensacola Songwriters Festival.
October 22-26 Gulf Shores, Alabama for MOTM “Meeting of the Minds” with the Parrothead folks.
October 8-12 Gulf Shores for the Frank Brown Songwriters Festival.
Venues, and start times for all these shows will be announced soon and will be up on my website.
HEALTH NOTES
Dr. Fauci has COVID for the third time despite being vaccinated 6 times.
A new study substantiates the link between untreated high blood pressure and an increased risk of Alzheimer’s disease for adults 60 and over.
The mosquito season is now longer because of the extended heat waves. That mean a bigger chance of West Nile virus showing up more according to skeeter experts.
INGENIOUS?
This guy loaded his boat on a limo and then launched it into the water from the roof.
I can only imagine how expensive his rod, reel, and tackle are.
BAD CITIES
For the second year in a row a study claims that Washington, D.C., is the least desirable city to live in. Housing costs and crime factor in.
LA, New York, San Francisco, Baltimore, and Detroit all made the top 10 of least desirable.
Best city? According to that survey it’s Tampa. Charlotte, and Virginia are in the top 3 for most desirable
And now you know.
Nashville was named “friendliest city”…so we’ve got that going for us.
HE SAID IT
I saw a video yesterday where Kevin Costner says, “You don’t want to die from diabetes.” And I thought, “you’re right Kevin. But I really don’t want to die of ANYTHING.
I know…there’s no choice in the matter. And that was pointed out in a very funny way in this song that the Old Dogs recorded “Still Gonna Die”. The Old Dogs were Waylon Jennings, Jerry Reed, Mel Tillis and Bobby Bare. If you’ve not hear the song…click on the link.
THE BABE
Babe Ruth, the great New York Yankee once called his shot. He pointed at the stands while at the plate at Wrigley Field in Chicago and then hit a home run there. An iconic baseball moment.
So much so that the uniform he wore while doing that is going up for auction. They think it could fetch as much as 30 MILLION dollars. Wow.
I played softball for a team called the Cadillac Cowboys back in Missouri when I was young. I think I still have that shirt. If you’d like to offer an opening bid that would be just fine.
NO PACKING
In Texas they decided not to allow guns into the Texas State Fair this year. That will make this game a lot less interesting for sure.
FORE!
Now I know golfers have had to pause their games with alligators showing up on the course down south. Or deer in the Midwest. Or rattlers in Phoenix.
But out west it’s REALLY a challenge to finish a round when a black bear chases a coyote in front of the hole you’re shooting for.
I think I’ll play indoor golf only.
HEADLINE OF THE DAY
Flight Diverted After Pilot Admits He Isn’t Qualified To Land. Uh…kind of important if you’re a passenger.
TODAY
I have a rare double header of writing today. This morning I’m with Christian singer Sarah Davison who’s part of the great girl quartet “High Road”.
And then this afternoon my write that I thought was yesterday will happen with young Kirsty Kraus. So I’m packing a lunch today.
Have a great Thursday!
