MOTM Day 2..."Bubbles Up"...Fools on Stools Tonight

BILL BLOG

Wednesday October 25, 2023

Waking up to a Hump Day Wednesday here on the Gulf Coast. 78 perfect degrees with sunshine today. Meanwhile parts of the north and northwest are expecting SNOW this week.

YESTERDAY

My Tuesday changed as I was planning to drive over to Pensacola from Gulf Shores to visit with some radio friends and tour their new radio station that I almost worked at. But a death in their family changed my plans and theirs unfortunately. My heartfelt condolences goes out to both of them this morning.

So with that I stayed in Gulf Shores and went back to Lulu’s where the boats pull up to the venue

HOLDING COURT

My friend Brent Burns is hosting songwriters every day this week during this big Parrot Head gathering called MOTM and Lulu’s is packed and will be packed every day this week. I’m not sure I’ve ever been to Lulu’s and witnessed the lot running out of room to park cars. Folks are lining up and waiting quite a while for a table. But with 3,000 Parrot Heads here from all over the country?  Makes sense.

It was great bumping into so many Trop Rock artists, friends, and fans, some of whom want me to come and play at their house concerts so there will be some discussion among those lines at a later date. We’ll see what happens.

Always love seeing Eric Erdman who’s a great writer and artist pictured here with a Trop Rock fan. You’ve got to love selfies!

And I did LOVE this gift item someone came up with that they sell at a local gift shop that they gave me. You can blow bubbles out of this to your hearts content but the best part is the name of the product “BubblesUp” which is the Jimmy Buffett song they released shortly after he passed. Made me smile.

It was just another picture perfect day here on the Gulf Coast.

TRAILER PARK

And how about this little VIDEO of a bunch of Brent’s fans dancing to our song “Trailer Park Sexy” yesterday in the most appropriate T-Shirt. Just kind of warms my little old modular heart.

LAST NIGHT

A little gathering at an Italian restaurant to wrap up day 2. Great wine and friends and the pizza was not half bad. And we got back to Brent’s place in time to watch the last 4 innings or the Diamondback victory over the Phillies that will send them to the World Series now against the Texas Rangers. Yep…pretty darned good day here on the beach.

HUNTER GIRL

Many of you saw “Hunter Girl” take second place on American Idol. She is what she seems like…as nice as can be. Before Idol she was part of our Freedom Sings USA group where she wrote a lot of songs with our veterans and don’t think they didn’t love her too.

Yesterday she just released her first real single to Country Radio titled “Ain’t About You” (great song!)  and a bunch of radio stations jumped on it. All of us who know her are rooting for her big time and this song might help get her to where she wants to go. I hope so. Check out the song right HERE.

Congrats Hunter Girl!

HEALTH NOTES

A Greek scientist says the next pandemic could come from a fungus.

A 14 year old scientist just received an award for inventing soap that fights skin cancer. At 14!

A new study suggests that the Green Mediterranean Diet can deliver significant reduction in body fat.

JOKE

Driver: “What am I supposed to do with this ticket”?

Officer: “Keep it, when you collect four, you get a bicycle.”

HALLOWEEN COSTUME

Okay…we may have a winner here for female Halloween costume of the year. I don’t mind sharing this with you as it’s the YEAST I can do.

HOT LAWSUIT

A woman went to Dunkin Donuts in 2021 and ordered coffee. The employee did not secure the lid tightly and is spilled and burned her badly. Enough so that she had to learn to walk again. She just won 3 million in a lawsuit. Someone is surely sitting down trying to figure out how to make sure lids don’t come off the hot coffee their selling.

PET OWNERS…WOULD YOU BUY THIS?

Gotta keep Fido dry when he goes for a walk in the rain I suppose.

TODAY
I’ll be part of the “Fools On Stools” concert here at the Civic Center this evening at 9 pm along with the funny guys you see on this poster. This has become one of the really big events every year at The Meeting of the Minds and I'm happy to be part of this insanity again.

Have a great Wednesday!

Funny Co-Write...Wildflower Too...House Concert Saturday

BILL BLOG Friday August 25, 2023   The weekend approaches. It’s Friday! A cool 100 degree high expected here in Nashville today.   YESTERDAY I wrote with Irene Kelley yesterday at my publishing company. Irene played at the Gatlinburg Songwriters Festival last weekend as did I and while we were there she shared a funny idea for a song she had. So yesterday we tackled that and had great fun with it. Irene is a terrific well know bluegrass artist, was an MCA mainstream artist at one time and has had had several stars record her songs like Alan Jackson did with this great country song “ I’m A Little Bluer Than That .”   But like a lot of artists, she didn’t have a funny song in her catalog. So we solved that problem yesterday for her and laughed while doing it.  Her current bluegrass single is on the charts and doing well right now “ Yellow Brick Highway ”. Good day yesterday.   SPEAKING OF BLUEGRASS On the way back home after my songwriting session I had

Baseball Night...Hot Golf Joke...Pumpkin Already

BILL BLOG Wednesday August 16, 2023   Here comes another Hump Day Wednesday. Cooler today with a high of just 81.   YESTERDAY I came down with a little something apparently during the Little Rock trip last weekend, so yesterday it turned out to be a good thing that my writing appointment had to be rescheduled as I spent the day just resting. And it’s paid off as I’m good to go again today.   In fact I felt well enough to go the ballpark last night and chill out watching our Triple A Brewers affiliated team the “Sounds” play a little baseball.     And what a gorgeous evening to watch baseball as the temps actually dropped into the 70’s last night. Perfect. And getting outdoors made me feel better as well so I’m grateful for that.      UPCOMING SHOWS Here’s the next few shows on my calendar.   This weekend August 18 & 19 it’s the Gatlinburg Songwriters Festival.     Saturday August 26 I’m with “Hits & Grins” for the Terry and Wanda Seay House Concert
