Cold Season...Schedule Ahead...Hot Dog Hall of Fame

BILL BLOG

Tuesday October 31, 2023

Tuesday…Halloween….already. 52 for a high with a low of 30. Colder for sure, but Chicago and Minneapolis have snow already. No thanks.

YESTERDAY

I had the day off and needed as I got back home from my Gulf Shores trip with a cold that’s knocking me down. That time of year. Odds go up that you’re going to catch something if your around a ton of people and that's part of my job so every now and then that’s going to happen. So I spent most of the day sleeping, drinking honey and tea, and cleaning out everything in the medicine cabinet that’s related to knocking out a cold. And sleeping...a lot. Rip Van Whyte yesterday.

For the record I’m drinking anything that ends in Quil. Day or night. I’ve kind of reconciled to myself that the only way to steer clear of a cold, flu or COVID this winter is to just stay locked up until Spring rolls around. And that obviously doesn’t work with what I do.

So here’s to Z Packs, and Vitamin C, and Orange Juice, and Kleenex this morning…and perhaps the next several days.

The good news is I think I feel a little better this morning.

HEALTH NOTES

The FDA is warning against the use of two dozen eye drop products sold at CVS and Rite Aid over risk of infection and vision loss.

Kids consume between 3,500 to 7,000 calories at Halloween from all that candy. Sugar high for a while.

A new study finds that anger can help people achieve goals.

ANOTHER HALL OF FAME

Who knew there was a Hot Dog Hall of Fame. There is. Located in Universal Studio's City Walk in Orlando.  I found this out reading the Nashville newspaper this morning where they announced one of our hot dog places will be inducted into the Vienna Beef Hot Dog Hall of Fame in a couple of weeks. Proving once again that there is a Hall of Fame for almost everything.

HERE COMES THE SUN

The times they continue to change. We now have solar powered cars and one of those just went 620 miles without stopping in Africa. I’m thinking it’s a much shorter run in Oregon where it rains so much.

THINGS WE ALL NEED

A dimmable sad duck light. It will help you realize there’s something sadder than you…I guess.

Or how about a bacon Band-Aid? Yep. They make those too.

And finally, doesn’t need a bicycle shaped pizza cutter?

PAINTING

This never seen painting from Claude Monet they say will fetch 65 million dollars at auction! It had been in a family collection for 50 years preserved and hidden away. Wow.

I have no taste in painting. I’m just as moved by this paint by number Collie.

HEADLINE OF THE DAY

Woman Says She Identifies As A Vampire. (Just in time for Halloween). And for the record, I think you can get permit to carry a stake at this time of year.

TODAY

Another day of rest that should help me get rid of this cold I’m fighting.

Have a great Tuesday!

Funny Co-Write...Wildflower Too...House Concert Saturday

BILL BLOG Friday August 25, 2023   The weekend approaches. It’s Friday! A cool 100 degree high expected here in Nashville today.   YESTERDAY I wrote with Irene Kelley yesterday at my publishing company. Irene played at the Gatlinburg Songwriters Festival last weekend as did I and while we were there she shared a funny idea for a song she had. So yesterday we tackled that and had great fun with it. Irene is a terrific well know bluegrass artist, was an MCA mainstream artist at one time and has had had several stars record her songs like Alan Jackson did with this great country song “ I’m A Little Bluer Than That .”   But like a lot of artists, she didn’t have a funny song in her catalog. So we solved that problem yesterday for her and laughed while doing it.  Her current bluegrass single is on the charts and doing well right now “ Yellow Brick Highway ”. Good day yesterday.   SPEAKING OF BLUEGRASS On the way back home after my songwriting session I had

Baseball Night...Hot Golf Joke...Pumpkin Already

BILL BLOG Wednesday August 16, 2023   Here comes another Hump Day Wednesday. Cooler today with a high of just 81.   YESTERDAY I came down with a little something apparently during the Little Rock trip last weekend, so yesterday it turned out to be a good thing that my writing appointment had to be rescheduled as I spent the day just resting. And it’s paid off as I’m good to go again today.   In fact I felt well enough to go the ballpark last night and chill out watching our Triple A Brewers affiliated team the “Sounds” play a little baseball.     And what a gorgeous evening to watch baseball as the temps actually dropped into the 70’s last night. Perfect. And getting outdoors made me feel better as well so I’m grateful for that.      UPCOMING SHOWS Here’s the next few shows on my calendar.   This weekend August 18 & 19 it’s the Gatlinburg Songwriters Festival.     Saturday August 26 I’m with “Hits & Grins” for the Terry and Wanda Seay House Concert
