Back Home...Port St. Joe Ahead...Crocodile Crawl

BILL BLOG

Tuesday October 11, 2022

Tuesday morning from my desk back home in Music City.

YESTERDAY

On a beautiful Fall day I made the return trip home for Gulf Shores to Nashville. And I can tell it’s Fall because a lot of the trees are starting to turn colors. I had such a great 4 day run on the Gulf Coast with two great shows and got to spend some quality time with my buddy Brent Burns and a lot of friends I’ve made through the years down there. I always look forward to coming back.

The next trip will be for the Frank Brown SongwritersFestival November 10-12. Their website has the full schedule up now. I’m playing 4 shows this year and you can easily find where those are here on my website on the calendar.

 UP NEXT ON THE ROAD

That would be the Blast on the Bay Songwriters Festival down in Port St. Joe Florida. That happens next week October 20-23 where I have three shows with my “Hits & Grins” trio that features Steve Dean & Victoria Venier, and one other show where I’ll be paired with Jerry Salley and Lauren Spring.  And on the last day of the festival this year Sunday October 23, songwriters Jerry Salley and Alan Rhody will also join “Hits & Grins” on stage. Truly one of my favorite events every year and I hope you’ll come join us for the views, the music, the great food, and the fun. Here’s a look at the complete schedule this year.

VIRUS NOTES

The Florida Surgeon General came out Friday and said a study shows a direct link between the vaccine and cardiac related incidents with young men 18-39 and suggests that age bracket not take the vaccine. He says there’s an 84% increase in related incidents for that group. Others are already criticizing the study saying there are flaws in the research.

One doctor says two signs that you have COVID? If you wake up tired after a good night’s rest, and a sore throat.

Over a holiday weekend in China COVID cases triple so they locked down a bunch of cities again over there.

AMAZON

Buy something!  It’s Amazon Prime Days again today and tomorrow. Baby Huggies are 40% off just so you know. Christmas shopping in October anyone?

One Amazon joke.

Amazon asked for feedback on the telescope I bought on their site. I was honest with my review. “This telescope sucked. Two stars”.

BUYING

I won’t be shopping on Amazon today, but I will probably get out and buy a Powerball and Mega million ticket. Powerball is up to 421 million while Mega Millions is worth 445 million in tonight’s drawing. Once again being the shrewd investor I am, I wait until I have absolutely ZERO chance of winning before I give them my money.

CROC SHAPE

Check this out. The latest craze for helping bad backs in called the Crocodile Crawl. Just like it sounds. On your belly and you crawl like a crocodile. Uh huh. If you’ve ever had a bad back you’re probably like me. You’ll try anything to get rid of that lower back pain. I can’t see me going reptile like this, but if I do I’m determined to wear a pair of ugly Crocs while doing the Crocodile Crawl.

YOU CAN TAX THAT TOO?!

New Zealand may start taking their farmers for cow burps. Yep. Greenhouse gas thing and they want it to stop. Wonder if they’ll tax grandpas too for “pull my finger” greenhouse gas as well?

HEADLINE OF THE DAY

“Man Claims To Have Been Exchanging Presents With Big Foot For 2 Years”. Well, since it’s Amazon Prime Day the dude and the sasquatch can save a little money.

TODAY

My writing appointment got cancelled today with Irene Kelley because she’s in the studio laying down background vocals for her new album that will include a song the two of wrote. So, I get a day off…and I could use it for catching up. Oh, and the baseball playoffs are on.

Have a great Tuesday!

A Mo Mo Proclamation...A Pilot Gets His Wings...Happy 4th!

BILL BLOG July 4, 2022     Happy 4 th of July!   Let the fireworks begin. And in my neck of the woods, that means they’ll be firing them up for the next 10 days or more. It will be 95 here in Nashville today…very 4 th of “Julyish”.   THE MO MO WEEKEND I don’t know where to start about how great my show was in Louisiana, Missouri Friday night for the 50 th Anniversary celebration of “Mo Mo” the Missouri Monster. The Elks Lodge where I played must have had well over 200 folks attending, and I think I knew at least 90% of the crowd filled with family members, friends, high school classmates from Elsberry, Missouri and even a couple of old members of my band when I was young who I did not recognize. It’s been that long. Tim Burke played drums in my band, and I had not seen him since then. He drove in from Nebraska to see the show. And Crystal Motley who sang in my young band also showed up, and I’d not seen her since those days and didn’t know her either. Geez. I need to go home

Gatlinburg Songwriters Festival...Hall of Famer...Two Shows Tonight

BILL BLOG Friday August 19, 2022   Friday morning in Gatlinburg getting ready for a songwriting session and a couple of shows tonight here at the Gatlinburg SongwritersFestival. 81 for the high today with some rain here today in the mountains.   YESTERDAY I picked up my “Hits & Grins” buddy Steve Dean and we hit I-40 East all the way to Gatlinburg. Rolled into town and stopped at the historic old Gatlinburg Inn and picked up our credentials, checked into our rooms a little further down the street and got set for the first activities.   First activities included a meet and greet followed by opening ceremonies underneath one of the ski lifts here. The put songwriter Kim Williams who wrote a TON of Garth Brooks hits into the Hall of Fame here. His wife accepted on his behalf as Kim passed away a few years ago.    I never wrote with Kim, but I’ve written with his talented daughter Amanda several times and I’ve had the pleasure of hearing all the Garth and Kim Williams storie

The Missouri Mo Mo Show

BILL BLOG Friday July 2, 2022 I'm on the road home to Nashville after one of the more incredible concert evenings I've ever had back home in Missouri for the 50th Anniversary Show for "Mo Mo" the Missouri Monster. The place was just packed with old friends, and co-workers, and musicians, family and friends.  Unfortunately I have no time to do a full "blog" this morning, but check back here Monday for the complete story on an evening I will not soon forget. Have a great Friday!
