BILL BLOG
Tuesday June 10, 2025
Hello Tuesday morning. Looking outside my window this morning, I’m seeing a layer of fog. More rain is on the way today before we start getting into the 90s and really hot days.
YESTERDAY
Alex Miller and I wrote a song that’s right in his wheelhouse. Alex loves traditional country music, the Opry, and those old country music TV shows. Yesterday, he pulled up a black and white video of Ray Price singing one of his hits with Roger Miller standing by him, singing harmony.
Folks forget Roger played the fiddle, and played in Ray’s band, Faron Young’s band, and others.
Yesterday’s song that we co-wrote makes reference to an old Ernest Tubb song, “Walkin’ The Floor Over You”. I would not be shocked if this isn’t something he’ll put on his next album. We’ll see.
KATRINA
Here’s another fun tease of “American Dream” that I wrote with the artist here, Katrina Burgoyne. The single will be released soon, and I love the video teases she’s been recording. And the American flags flying on her zero-turn lawn mower in this VIDEO is really cool. Katrina LOVES Shania Twain, and if you listen to the song, you will hear some of the Shania sound. And it’s hard to beat a song that has the word “Ozempic” in it.
SONG OF THE DAY
Today's song "Never Been In Love Like This" is a song my talented friend Lauren Mascitti recorded on her critically acclaimed "God Made A Woman" album that I wrote with her and Wil Nance. This was Lauren's first album that was made after her appearance on American Idol.
HEALTH NOTES
Beet juice is pretty healthy. According to a health expert, it’s rich in vitamins, lowers blood pressure, improves blood sugar levels, and it boosts exercise performance. (Now if I liked BEET anything…I’d be in better shape)
How often should you go to the dentist? The American Dental Association agrees with my dentist. Every six months, you should go. Some of the reasoning is early detection for things like gum disease.
A new study says that if you lift weights before doing cardio, you will lose weight quicker and be more physically active the rest of the day.
HERE’S YOUR SIGN
Some kind of great exercise program from Homer. Doh!
FATHERS DAY
What to get for Dad with Father’s Day coming up in just 5 days? I have no clue. But I know giving him this is not the greatest idea.
Don’t give him this either.
And for SURE don’t give Dad one of these.
MAKING POOL MONEY
Some folks who have pools in their backyard rent them out and make some pretty good extra cash. There is a website named Swimply where pool owners can put up their pools for rent. Some make as much as $2,000 monthly during the summer months.
My wife and I have not had a lot of takers for our pool as of yet.
It might be because we insist that our customers have to blow it up themselves. Maybe.
MARRIAGE QUOTE
This one from the late Joan Rivers, who had a LOT of really funny jokes about her own marriage. Like this one.
I said to my husband, “my boobs are gone, my stomach’s gone, say something nice about my legs.” He said, “Blue goes with everything.”
DID YOU KNOW?
That the hit “Take Me Home Country Roads” was written for Johnny Cash and not John Denver? I didn’t either. Songwriters Bill Danoff and Taffy Nivert wrote it with the “Man In Black” in mind, but John Denver heard it first, and the rest is history. It’s kind of hard to imagine anyone singing it other than John Denver.
But check out his rare video of John and John singing the song together once. Pretty cool.
STRAWBERRY
The Strawberry Moon, June’s full moon will be up in the sky tomorrow night. It will reach peak illumination around 3 AM that morning.
Beautiful. I’ve never seen the June Strawberry Moon. I’m sleeping. To celebrate it though, I always eat some of this.
HE CAUGHT IT
For my fellow baseball fans, this may be one of the most spectacular catches ever. It was going to be a home run…no doubt…until THIS HAPPENED. A standing ovation for this one from Denzel Clarke.
HEADLINE OF THE DAY
Fire Crew Called After Smoke Seen In Sky…Turned Out To Be A Cloud. (Proof that regular eye checks are not a bad idea.)
TODAY
It’s back-to-back songwriting days with Alex Miller. Always fun creating with talented young man.
Have a great Tuesday!
