Carolina Shows...Thanksgiving Travel...Simulator Hotel

Tuesday morning dark and early in Nashville. A little light rain in the forecast in Nashville today with a high of 68 expected.

 

YESTERDAY

It was kind of a lazy day after returning from a road trip to Ohio for a show with Linda Davis & Lang Scott on Saturday night.



 

It’s always great fun to travel with those two and our “Evening in the Round” show…and of course it’s always good to get back home with a bag full of great memories…and it’s good to get home and sleep in your own bed.

 

Our next trip together will be for two shows in the Carolina’s.

 

Saturday night January 18 we will be in Kill Devils Hills, North Carolina for a 7:30 pm show at First Flight High School. (Yep…we’re in Orville and Wilbur country)


 

 

Then Sunday evening January 19 we’ll be in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina for 7 pm concert at the Greg Rowles Legacy theater with our friends Darin & Brooke Aldridge. 


 

 

SONG OF THE DAY

Today it’s something from my friend Lauren Mascitti “Never Been In Love Like This” that the two of us wrote with Wil Nance. Lauren included on her album “God Made A Woman” that received a lot of critical acclaim from multiple locations including the New York Times. Some kind of great country singer she is.

TURKEY DAY

They’re saying 80 million folks will travel over the Thanksgiving holiday this year. 71.7 million will be by car. That’s more than some pre-Covid numbers they’re saying. Meanwhile only 1 person will be traveling this way on Thanksgiving.



 

WHAT TO BUY FOR CHRISTMAS

I never have an idea as to what to get for my wife or friends. Black Friday deals have popped up so I’m looking.

 

Maybe this mini-phone the size of a credit card?



 

Or a ring watch so I can look at my middle finger and know what time I should raise it?



 

Or maybe an adult Lego set to build a danged typewriter?



 

Still looking. I could use some help Santa.

 

HOW COOL IS THIS

The US Air Force Academy hotel out in Colorado now has 3 flight simulators. So when you book a room you can try your hand at flying.



 

Now that’s what I call a hotel “perk”!

Sunshine and a high of 84 today here in Music City.       THE WEEKEND Thursday I made the three hour trip up to Marion, Illinois for our Freedom Sings USA songwriter retreat with songwriters Bobby Tomberlin , Steve Dean , Irene Kelley, and Don Goodman.   Marion is in southern Illinois…beautiful town and the folks who organized the event were so kind and passionate about honoring their veterans. Friday night they had a “meet and greet” in a beautiful old church where we had a great dinner and then played a show for all of those who attended. The Mayor, the organizers and the veterans.   Each songwriter met the veteran they were going to write with that night. This is mine. Trio of Writers...Post CMA...Alligator Bread

BILL BLOG Friday November 22, 2024   Friday…the weekend be here! Little chillier going into the weekend with a high of just 49 today and the low tonight will dip down to 37.   YESTERDAY I rhymed with two friends yesterday Rick Lang and Kristy Cox . Though I have written with both many times, and each of them have recorded songs I’ve written with them, it was the first time the three of us sat down together. And yesterday we wrote a gospel song idea that Rick brought with him…pretty much an entire chorus.      I was able to share with Rick that I heard one of our songs “ Church Bells A Ringin ” that’s on the Blue Collar Gospel Album-Songs of Rick Lang on Sirius-XM on the way to our appointment sung by Danny Paisley and a group of great harmony singers. That was pretty cool.     And we got to celebrate with Kristy for her album “Let It Burn” that’s up for a couple of big Golden Guitar Awards this year including Best Albu...

Old Radio Friend...Country Faith...Most Southern State

BILL BLOG Monday November 25, 2024   Monday morning…the start of Thanksgiving week y’all. And I still have no idea what a giblet is.   69 with some light rain in Nashville today but getting MUCH colder by weeks end. On Friday our high will only be 44 with a below freezing low of 26. Ain’t ready for none of that now.   THE WEEKEND Mine started Friday morning writing with Alex Miller at my publishing company. We tweaked an old song we’d written a couple of months ago and made it stronger…and then wrote a stone-cold-by-God-unapologetic-sad-country song. Think George Jones sad. Pitiful really…but cool in a retro country way. The kind of stuff 21 year old Alex Miller likes to sing.   Following that Alex and I met an old radio friend from Eureka, California Rollin Trehearne and his wife and their friend at a Mexican restaurant.
