Mo Mo...Army Graduation...New Single In Australia

Friday July 1, 2022

Friday morning here in Missouri. And it’s hot enough to call it the 4th of July weekend for sure! Whew. And indeed, we have now rolled into July.

How’s the new website look to you?  It’s up and running. My thanks again to Jon Wright, my friend Lang Scott and By The Way Labs for the new re-design. Enjoy looking around.

I made the run from Nashville to Missouri and overnighted with Dodge Raymer who’s always been family to me. And today we’ll head to the town of Louisiana, Missouri for the 50th Anniversary of Mo Mo show I’ve been blogging about for a while.  They tell me a state representative from Missouri is going to present me with some kind of acknowledgment for my contribution to the song. And he too worked at KPCR Radio in Bowling Green, Missouri where I started my radio career as a kid. Did not know that, so this should be fun.

That’s just one more thing that’s been added to what will be an extremely fun evening of memories and music and Mo Mo stories. Showtime is 7 pm tonight.

While I’m here in Missouri my wife Kathy was in Alabama to celebrate my son in law getting his wings in the US Army. So proud of you Casey Peterson. He’ll be flying fixed wing aircraft, flying officers and dignitaries and other folks to wherever they need to be. But at the graduation ceremony yesterday my daughter Heather pinned his wings on which was a very cool moment. And after graduation they took Casey’s family that was there and my wife up on Huey helicopter for a ride!  I am SO jealous!  I just hate that I missed being there for this, but I’m so glad they had such a wonderful day capped off with fireworks last night on the base. I’m just now getting some pictures and videos, and I’m hoping I’ll be able to share a video here come Monday morning.  Congrats Casey and Heather!

The song “Love Hate, Love Again” is out in Australia today for the artist TC Cassidy. It’s a song my Australian friend Angus Gill and I co-wrote, and some great reviews are already coming in from her many fans in Australia. And radio has also jumped on it. Also a great sign for what may be to come for this catchy up-tempo country song. Click on the link and listen to it for the first time and see what you think. Thank you, TC, for such a great record, and thank you Angus for nailing it in the studio! Love it.

Unfortunately a tiger died in the Columbus, Ohio Zoo from COVID complications.

New York City will start issuing Paxlovid for those testing “positive”. It’s the first program anywhere to do this.

New cases of COVID are up 18% worldwide from the new Omicron variant. Just won’t leave us alone.

It is that time when your neighbors start throwing up fireworks. God bless you if you have one that saves up and shoots them off for 10 days or more in a row…AFTER the holiday is over. Sigh.

Most popular selling firework apparently is the Excalibur patented shells that have a 60g charge that goes along with them when they explode. The LOUDEST? That would be Wolf Pack firecrackers. I never got past bottle rockets myself and sparklers.

I did do a TV interview once with the folks from Rozzi Fireworks in Cincinnati for a 4th of July piece the local NBC affiliate ran. They gave me the grand tour of the place “on camera” and I got quite the education on how they pack shells and synchronize them with music while they’re being fired off from a barge in the Ohio river every year.  And yea, it’s way more about electronics than it is about lighting one and then running as fast as you can with your fingers in your ears.

You knew this had to happen right? A fleet of taxis with no driver (autonomous vehicles) stop at an intersection in San Francisco and clog up traffic for hours. They had to send out a fleet of engineers to physically remove them. We still have a ways to go with “autonomous”.

The girls on “The View” TV show are doing PRETTY well. The entire cast of women are filming in the Bahamas. Their rooms cost $14,000 PER night. For each of them. I’m betting they’ve not heard of Tom Bodet.

A Mom observes her 6-year-old talking to his younger brother who was crying. The 6-year-old says to him, “It’s okay to be sad. Sometimes we need to let our feelings out, so let yourself cry.”

The Mom says, “Oh darling, that is so lovely!  Why is he crying”?

The six-year-old replies, “I hit him”.

I think I might live forever. A new article lists 12 benefits of drinking coffee. They list: You drive better, it prevents kidney stones, and you live longer. As much as I drink, I should be healthy forever. If you’re curious, here’s the other benefits of getting jacked up at Starbucks.

Brawl Breaks Out At Eagles Concert During The Iconic Hit “Take It Easy”. Ya gotta listen to the lyrics folks!

It’s all about getting ready for the concert tonight in Louisiana, Missouri. Back on the road home to Nashville tomorrow morning, and I’ll give you all the highlights here come Monday morning.

Have a great 4th of July weekend and take time to remember those that have sacrificed so much to give us our independence. God bless the men and women who serve our country.

A Mo Mo Proclamation...A Pilot Gets His Wings...Happy 4th!

BILL BLOG July 4, 2022     Happy 4 th of July!   Let the fireworks begin. And in my neck of the woods, that means they’ll be firing them up for the next 10 days or more. It will be 95 here in Nashville today…very 4 th of “Julyish”.   THE MO MO WEEKEND I don’t know where to start about how great my show was in Louisiana, Missouri Friday night for the 50 th Anniversary celebration of “Mo Mo” the Missouri Monster. The Elks Lodge where I played must have had well over 200 folks attending, and I think I knew at least 90% of the crowd filled with family members, friends, high school classmates from Elsberry, Missouri and even a couple of old members of my band when I was young who I did not recognize. It’s been that long. Tim Burke played drums in my band, and I had not seen him since then. He drove in from Nebraska to see the show. And Crystal Motley who sang in my young band also showed up, and I’d not seen her since those days and didn’t know her either. Geez. I need to go home

Gatlinburg Songwriters Festival...Hall of Famer...Two Shows Tonight

BILL BLOG Friday August 19, 2022   Friday morning in Gatlinburg getting ready for a songwriting session and a couple of shows tonight here at the Gatlinburg SongwritersFestival. 81 for the high today with some rain here today in the mountains.   YESTERDAY I picked up my “Hits & Grins” buddy Steve Dean and we hit I-40 East all the way to Gatlinburg. Rolled into town and stopped at the historic old Gatlinburg Inn and picked up our credentials, checked into our rooms a little further down the street and got set for the first activities.   First activities included a meet and greet followed by opening ceremonies underneath one of the ski lifts here. The put songwriter Kim Williams who wrote a TON of Garth Brooks hits into the Hall of Fame here. His wife accepted on his behalf as Kim passed away a few years ago.    I never wrote with Kim, but I’ve written with his talented daughter Amanda several times and I’ve had the pleasure of hearing all the Garth and Kim Williams storie

The Missouri Mo Mo Show

BILL BLOG Friday July 2, 2022 I'm on the road home to Nashville after one of the more incredible concert evenings I've ever had back home in Missouri for the 50th Anniversary Show for "Mo Mo" the Missouri Monster. The place was just packed with old friends, and co-workers, and musicians, family and friends.  Unfortunately I have no time to do a full "blog" this morning, but check back here Monday for the complete story on an evening I will not soon forget. Have a great Friday!
