Thursday morning in Music City. Mid 80’s here today. Snow in Denver on Friday. I’ll take the heat.

I spent another 5 hours or so in studio with  Brent Burns  as he laid down vocals on three more songs that will be on his next album. So, a total of 5 of have been laid down so far and there will be at least 5 more added a few months from now. My friend  Lang Scott  dropped by and listened and laughed with the rest of us. There’s always a lot of laughter during Brent’s session. We should video some of it for sure to share with the world. Just watching Brent get animated and loud as he was singing “Get Off My Beach!” was danged funny stuff. We wrapped about 3 pm, had some lunch with Lang then I got him to the airport for his direct flight to Pensacola where could drive home to Gulf Shores and sleep in his own bed last night. Can’t wait for folks to get some of what we laid down yesterday.

Brent and my next show together is coming up Thursday evening July 21 in Hot Springs Arkansas at the beautiful  Woodlands Auditorium  tucked inside the Hot Spring village community there followed by a Friday night parrot head house concert at “The Hangout” in Sullivan, Missouri near St. Louis. Both shows are open to the public and all the details can be found on my calendar here on the website.

National Geographic just listed the top 5 places to visit in the world. Check out this list.

5 Cusco, Peru

4 Sweden

3 Malaysian, Borneo

2 Pembrokeshire, Wales

I’ve been to NONE of those places BUT I have been to their #1 travel destination. And that’s because I live there!

Nashville, Tennessee was their choice for top places to visit in the WORLD. Good grief. Wow. No wonder when I dropped my friend off at our airport last night my mouth opened when I saw for the first time the gigantic work going on to expand our airport. Honkytonks, country music and hot chicken. We’re hard to resist, I guess.

The virus is spiking again in NYC, but  Mayor Adams  says he will not put a mandatory mask requirement for indoors back in place.

Here in Tennessee cases are growing too and some of the local experts feel a surge is coming as soon as summer.

An article I read this morning points out that more and more vaccinated folks are now dying from COVID too.

A gem here from a married person who shared this thought. “Love isn’t how willing you are to die for them, but how willing you are to be mildly inconvenienced by them.”

It occurs to me that the ONLY thing that has not gone UP lately is stocks. Word is that folks are hoarding cash now. There’s not been this much hoarding of cash they tell us since 9/11. I’m pretty sure I should be going old school and putting some in a Folgers coffee can and burying it in the backyard. In every single state now gas is over $4 a gallon. Hard to believe it was under $2 a gallon how long ago? A year?

And get this.  JP Morgan  predicts gas will go to $6 a gallon by August.

Hard to look at either the pump, or the DOW.

Saw this funny but sorta-kinda true about musicians in the Mullet Wrapper newspaper from Gulf Shores.

Interviewer to a musician. “Congratulations on winning the lottery.

Musician: “Thank you”.

Interviewer: “Do you have any special plans for spending all that money?”

Musician: “Nope. I’m just gonna keep on playing gigs until the lottery money is gone.”

And this list came from Travel and Leisure Magazine. I’ll list those in the states I’ve lived in.

The Cache River State Natural Area. (never saw it. Heck, never heard of it when I lived in Decatur, Illinois)

Hemlock Cliffs. (Same as above)

In my home state they picked the  Ozark National Scenic Riverways . (I THINK I’ve seen some of that)

Franklin Park Conservatory and Botanical Gardens. (Located in Columbus. Nope. Have not seen)

The Apostle Islands (way north Wisconsin and a perfect sweep here. I’ve lived in all of these states and have seen ZERO of those places)

I have seen a lot of the other state choices thought. If you’re curious, here’s their  entire list .

Taylor Swift  received an honorary doctorate degree from NYU University yesterday. And then she bought NYU. Okay, a joke, but she could.

I’m online writing with my buddy  Troy Engle  in Pennsylvania later this morning. Always fun to create something with Troy.

Have a great Thursday!

A Mo Mo Proclamation...A Pilot Gets His Wings...Happy 4th!

BILL BLOG July 4, 2022     Happy 4 th of July!   Let the fireworks begin. And in my neck of the woods, that means they’ll be firing them up for the next 10 days or more. It will be 95 here in Nashville today…very 4 th of “Julyish”.   THE MO MO WEEKEND I don’t know where to start about how great my show was in Louisiana, Missouri Friday night for the 50 th Anniversary celebration of “Mo Mo” the Missouri Monster. The Elks Lodge where I played must have had well over 200 folks attending, and I think I knew at least 90% of the crowd filled with family members, friends, high school classmates from Elsberry, Missouri and even a couple of old members of my band when I was young who I did not recognize. It’s been that long. Tim Burke played drums in my band, and I had not seen him since then. He drove in from Nebraska to see the show. And Crystal Motley who sang in my young band also showed up, and I’d not seen her since those days and didn’t know her either. Geez. I need to go home

Gatlinburg Songwriters Festival...Hall of Famer...Two Shows Tonight

BILL BLOG Friday August 19, 2022   Friday morning in Gatlinburg getting ready for a songwriting session and a couple of shows tonight here at the Gatlinburg SongwritersFestival. 81 for the high today with some rain here today in the mountains.   YESTERDAY I picked up my “Hits & Grins” buddy Steve Dean and we hit I-40 East all the way to Gatlinburg. Rolled into town and stopped at the historic old Gatlinburg Inn and picked up our credentials, checked into our rooms a little further down the street and got set for the first activities.   First activities included a meet and greet followed by opening ceremonies underneath one of the ski lifts here. The put songwriter Kim Williams who wrote a TON of Garth Brooks hits into the Hall of Fame here. His wife accepted on his behalf as Kim passed away a few years ago.    I never wrote with Kim, but I’ve written with his talented daughter Amanda several times and I’ve had the pleasure of hearing all the Garth and Kim Williams storie

The Missouri Mo Mo Show

BILL BLOG Friday July 2, 2022 I'm on the road home to Nashville after one of the more incredible concert evenings I've ever had back home in Missouri for the 50th Anniversary Show for "Mo Mo" the Missouri Monster. The place was just packed with old friends, and co-workers, and musicians, family and friends.  Unfortunately I have no time to do a full "blog" this morning, but check back here Monday for the complete story on an evening I will not soon forget. Have a great Friday!
